The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) issued the following statement today as state lawmakers reconvene in Raleigh take address additional aid for communities affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

The North Association of Educators (NCAE) Great Public Schools Fund is pleased to announce its endorsement of Justice Allison Riggs for the North Carolina Supreme Court. Justice Riggs’ passion for equal justice and her decades of experience fighting for the rights of every North Carolinian make her a valuable member of the state’s highest court. NCAE also endorsed three candidates for the North Carolina Court of Appeals: Ed Eldred, Martin Moore, and Carolyn Thompson.

NCAE applauds lawmakers actions on calendar flexibility and school pay for those impacted by Hurricane Helene

Over two dozen schools held “Schools Stand Together” events calling for lawmakers to provide aid to educators and schools impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) today launched a digital ad campaign calling on state lawmakers to oppose a massive expansion of taxpayer-funded private school vouchers. The ads begin today and will run through planned voting sessions next week in more than a dozen state legislative districts statewide.

While the majority of North Carolinians believe in the value of our public schools, some state lawmakers are planning to undermine those schools with a massive expansion of taxpayer-funded private school vouchers.

A recent survey revealed that North Carolina educators are spending around $1,300 of their own money on school supplies - $400 more than the national average. That’s 4th most in the country.
