RALEIGH, NC – The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) celebrated a huge night for public education as NCAE-endorsed candidates Josh Stein and Mo Green secured victories in their respective races, and the supermajority in the NC House was also broken. In this election cycle, the future of public education truly was on the ballot, and the voters have made it clear that they support public schools.
“NCAE members took the critical messages about the need for increased public school funding directly to voters by knocking on doors, having honest conversations, and mobilizing communities. And last night, voters made it clear they stand with public school educators and students. They said no to private school vouchers, to book banning, and to defunding our public schools. Instead, they said yes to providing a high-quality education to every child regardless of their income, race, religion, or gender. State policymakers must recognize that a majority coalition of parents, educators, and community supporters are committed to strengthening our public schools.” - Tamika Walker Kelly, NCAE President
