RALEIGH, NC – The North Association of Educators (NCAE) Great Public Schools Fund is pleased to announce its endorsement of Justice Allison Riggs for the North Carolina Supreme Court. Justice Riggs’ passion for equal justice and her decades of experience fighting for the rights of every North Carolinian make her a valuable member of the state’s highest court.

“Justice Allison Riggs has shown a commitment to equality and fairness for everyone throughout her impressive legal career including serving on the Supreme Court. Educators are proud to endorse someone with such high integrity and respect for the rule of law. Keeping her on the bench will ensure that our state's highest court continues to serve all of the people,” said NCAE President Tamika Walker Kelly.

Riggs was appointed to North Carolina’s Supreme Court last year by Governor Roy Cooper. She previously spent 14 years working at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, where she served as a civil rights and voting rights attorney. She’s argued voting rights cases in front of state courts all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

"As a proud graduate of public schools and as the sister of a North Carolina public school educator, I'm honored to receive the endorsement of the North Carolina Association of Educators. I deeply value every child's access to quality public education and teachers' and staff members' access to excellent work environments. I value the role that NCAE and its members play in advocating for a better, more just North Carolina,” said Justice Allison Riggs.

NCAE also endorsed three candidates for the North Carolina Court of Appeals: Ed Eldred, Martin Moore, and Carolyn Thompson.
