It’s the holiday season and many of us are preparing for guests, making last-minute plans to visit loved ones, and setting aside time for some much-needed rest. It’s also a time when we think about things we want and wish for.
Members were asked if granted one wish this holiday season, what would be at the top of their list. Here is what some of you had to say:
“More legislators who are pro public education.” - Wake County member
“To include a thousand or more new NCAE members to our membership so that we can strengthen and glorify our mission and goals and then receive worthy accommodations for our united dedication and commitment.” - Cumberland County member
“If I could wish for one thing it would be $10,000 to pay off some bills so that we can purchase our first home.” - Guilford County member
“My holiday wish would be that EVERY child in NC (or the country) would receive free breakfast and lunch! It is never a child’s fault if you do not have lunch money” - Watauga County member
“That teachers and all school staff would be fairly compensated.” - Henderson County member
“I would love to receive a 14-carat gold necklace.” - Asheville City member
“My top wish is that President Biden wins a second term.” - Pasquotank County member
“I would like to secure a mansion for the holidays and spend quality time with my entire family (husband, parents, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncle). - Cumberland County member
“Retirement and insurance benefits after employees retire.” - Buncombe County member
“I wish to have holiday financial fund to treat myself to a joyous shopping spree! This time of the year I enjoy thinking of others. By the time the gift giving is complete, I have no financial funds to treat myself. This would be so much fun!” - Durham County member
“My wish for this holiday season is for ALL of US to treat ourselves to some holiday fun!” - Guilford County member
“My one wish is to have another piano. I played for eight years when I was younger, and I miss it so much. My dream is to own a baby grand one day, but right now I just want to get back in the habit of playing and creating my own music and songs.” - Gaston County member
“Housing is scarce in our little rural town. The home we currently rent is in severe need of repair. We’ve rented from our landlord for 5 years. However, they are not able to afford the repairs at this time. If I could have one wish granted this holiday it would be a home to call my own for my little family. I am a high school exceptional children’s teacher. I love my job and town I call home. I wish I had more stable and permanent housing so the need for different housing arrangements in the near future was not something I had to worry about with the possibility of having to relocate.” -- Clinton City member
