NCAE Statement on Today's Leandro Hearing

NCAE released the following statement in response to today's Leandro hearing.
Published: February 22, 2024

RALEIGH, NC – NCAE released the following statement in response to today's Leandro hearing:

"NCAE believes that every child in North Carolina no matter their race, background, income, or what neighborhood they grew up in has a right to a high quality education, an excellent teacher, and a well-funded school. An overwhelming majority of North Carolinians agree and so do decades of bipartisan court orders.

Today’s hearing is a step backwards when we need three leaps forward. Public schools are the heart of communities across North Carolina. It’s where we teach the vast majority of North Carolina students and nurture the problem-solvers, builders, and leaders of the future. We are all in this together and the North Carolina Supreme Court must see that too."

- Tamika Walker Kelly, NCAE President
